A flexible joint is mainly consist of metal hose, braids and end fittings such as flanges, unions, nipples and sockets.
1) Metal hose
Metal hoses are largely elastic. Corrugated forming methods enhance metal hoses’ flex resistance and
flexibility, reducing viration between equipment and piping.
They have ordinarily two types of metal hoses. One is spiral type, which is suitable for general use
under medium pressure pressure. The other is annular type, which is suitable for use under high pressure.
Braids are usually made of stainless steel wires or strips.
The braids restrain forces occurring in the pipe and protect metal hose from external shocks.
3) End Fitting
Ordinarily, Flexible joints are connected by welding or fittings to the ends of metal hose.
Fittings to the ends of metal hose use flanges, loose flanges, union, thread, quick coupling and one touch coupling, e.t.c.
